How it all works

Three steps from nothing to a personalised, offline activity pack running on every device your family owns — free, no unlock codes.

1

🚗 Build your Activity Pack

Free, and takes about a minute. No card or password — just your email, so we can send you your pack's link.

  1. Go to arewethereyet.kids/builder.html
  2. Add your email and your kids' names and ages
  3. Optional: add your trip — pick where you're going and how you'll travel
  4. Tap "Create & Play!" — your personalised pack opens straight away
2

📱 Save it to your home screen

This is what makes it work offline and open full-screen like a real app — without this step it's just a browser tab that needs the internet every time.

📱 iPhone / iPad (Safari)
  1. Tap the Share icon ↑ at the bottom
  2. Scroll down, tap "Add to Home Screen"
  3. Tap Add
Safari on iPhone with the Share menu open
1. Tap Share
Safari share sheet showing the Add to Home Screen option
2. Add to Home Screen
🤖 Android (Chrome)
  1. Tap the menu, top right
  2. Tap "Add to Home screen" or "Install app"
  3. Tap Add / Install
💻 Windows (Chrome / Edge)
  1. Click the install icon at the right of the address bar
  2. Click Install
  3. No icon showing? Use the menu → "Install this site as an app"

You'll also see a reminder for this the first time you open your pack.

3

📱📱 Share with up to 5 family devices

Free on up to 5 devices, so the whole family can play (parents' phones, kids' tablets, a grandparent's spare tablet in the car).

On each extra device:

  1. Open arewethereyet.kids/builder.html and build a pack there too (the same or a different trip/kids — your choice)
  2. Tap "Create & Play!", then save it to that device's home screen (step 2 above)
💡 Faster way: in the builder, after building your pack, open "Get it on other family devices" — it gives you a QR code and a shareable link. Scan the QR code (or open the link) on each other device to load the exact same personalised pack in one tap, no retyping names or trip.
🔒

Lock the tablet to just this app (optional, recommended)

Handing over a personal phone means calls, texts and other apps are one accidental tap away — most parents would rather not. If you're using a spare tablet instead, both iOS and Android have a free, built-in way to pin the screen so your child can't back out of the app at all, no calls or messages getting through, nothing else to tap into.

📱 iPhone / iPad — Guided Access
  1. Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access → turn it On (set a passcode here too)
  2. Open the Activity Pack, then triple-click the side/home button
  3. Tap Start (top right) — the tablet is now locked to this app only
  4. To let them out again: triple-click the side/home button and enter your passcode
🤖 Android — Screen Pinning
  1. Settings → Security (or Security & privacy) → More security settings → App pinning — turn it On
  2. Open the Activity Pack, then tap the Overview/recent-apps button and tap the app's icon at the top → Pin
  3. To let them out again: hold Back and Overview together (or follow your device's on-screen hint)

Exact wording varies a little by phone/tablet manufacturer — search "Guided Access" or "screen pinning" plus your device model if these steps don't quite match what you see.
